We want to give you a heads-up that Aatrix Software, LLC will begin collecting U.S. sales taxes on invoices starting October 1, 2024. Sales tax will be calculated automatically based on individual state tax requirements.
If your company qualifies for a sales tax exemption, now is the time to act! Please submit your exemption certificates in PDF format to AatrixExemptCerts@sovos.com. Ensure all necessary information is provided—including your vendor identification (Aatrix Software, LLC), date, and signature—because any missing details could lead to unnecessary tax charges on future orders. A NEW WAY HACKERS MIGHT TRY TO STEAL YOUR LOGIN CREDENTIALS
Cybercriminals are always coming up with new tricks to steal your login information. Sometimes they even bring back old methods, like telephone scams. But lately, there’s a new technique becoming more common that’s much harder to detect.
Here’s how it works:
- A hacker gets control of a legitimate account and sends out a real link to a file on a company’s SharePoint system.
- The target (you) logs in normally through a Microsoft 365 or SharePoint page, without anything looking suspicious. At this point, your login info is safe.
- Once you open the document, there’s another link inside that takes you to a fake login page designed to steal your username and password.
This method is sneaky because:
- The email comes from a trusted source, so everything looks normal at first glance.
- The link you click on is legitimate, making it hard for spam filters to catch.
- There’s no attachment in the email, so malware scans don’t flag it.
Even high-quality security tools, like Proofpoint—which Bennett/Porter’s Managed IT uses—are trying to catch these tricky SharePoint links, but in highly targeted attacks, the hackers might still slip through.
What Can You Do?
- Stay Alert: If someone sends you a file out of the blue, especially if it’s unexpected, that could be a red flag.
- Check Links: If you open a document and see another link, be cautious. Does it make sense for a document to just be a link to another page?
While these attacks are sophisticated, being aware and cautious can help protect you from falling into these traps.
