Sage 100 News
Just a quick update this month from us where Sage is concerned! We’ve been informed Sage has purchased an application that will provide (when it is released!) a customer portal, where your customers can dial into their customer accounts, see the invoices you’ve billed to them, and pay those invoices right from the portal using a credit card. (We’re not sure if ACH payments can be made this way or not, but we’re suspecting that will be added if it isn’t in the first release.) The product is currently being called “Sage Network App” and is in beta testing with several Sage Resellers right now. The product is expected to be released with V2025 next year, and as the application is further developed, we’ll let you know what is happening with it and how the beta testing is doing. Make sure you’re signed up to receive our monthly newsletter to make sure you don’t miss a thing!
People Savvy HCM News
With over 2,600 employees supported on People Savvy HCM, our HR and Payroll teams think a great deal about time. Specifically, we think about the best way to record time that employees spend working. At a bare minimum, businesses should be capturing time via an electronic means. Manual methods of recording time are vulnerable to error and fraud, both of which easily equate to increased compliance risk and lost revenue. In fact, the American Payroll Association estimates that time clock fraud costs U.S. companies as much as 7% of their annual payroll.
Among the numerous electronic methods that exist (ID numbers, badges, fingerprint readers), one stands far in front of the pack in all categories and is our indisputable preference for time-keeping: facial recognition software running on a tablet. Here are a few reasons why we recommend this solution to all our customers – and why it’s the most popular time-keeping solution among our clients.
Speed and Accuracy
Every second spent by an employee struggling to clock in/out is a second of lost productivity, additional costs, and mounting frustration by employees, managers, and payroll administrators. When employees can punch in quickly, that means the process is easy. And when those punches don’t need to be corrected by managers or payroll processors, that means the tool is accurate. Our facial recognition solution provides both advantages, with almost instantaneous clocking and data that approaches 100% accuracy.
Dependability
Equipment breaks. That’s just a fact. The critical thing is to minimize downtime. Because this system is a cloud-based app that runs on a base model iPad, any downtime because of hardware problems is limited to however long it takes to pick up a new iPad. In fact, clients keeping an extra tablet on hand can keep such crises to a matter of minutes. And because facial recognition clocking is nearly contactless, the hardware endures minimal wear and tear by employees. We have had these clocks deployed in agricultural and manufacturing environments for years, and we’ve never yet seen one have to be swapped out. What’s more, if the Internet signal goes down, employees can just keep punching. The tablet will hold the punches locally until a connection is restored and they can be uploaded.
Security
It’s not just a time-clock, either. Our facial recognition stations can double as visitor registration and access control points. Does your facility have unattended entry points with minimal traffic? Rather than paying someone with a clipboard and pen to twiddle their thumbs 90% of the day, a kiosk can prompt visitors to register for entry and even match them up to a list of known, approved visitors. Then and only then will a door be unlocked for access. Frictionless entry can also be deployed for internal employees, allowing individuals access to secure areas they need to get to (and keeping them out of the ones they don’t).
Economical
Rather than purchasing expensive clock hardware and software that require maintenance and time-consuming upgrades (not to mention eventual replacement), facial recognition clocking runs as a lightweight tablet application accessible at a low-cost monthly per employee subscription fee. You only pay for the employees who clock in within any given month. Considering that the average company loses 4.5 hours per employee, per week to time theft, the cost of a system that prevents buddy-punching may in fact pay for itself.
Managing employee time is a fundamental aspect of business health. If your organization is interested in improving its time keeping abilities, and everything that goes along with it, reach out to us today for a free consult.
